This is Patagonia's warmest, completely weather-resistant insulated and hooded jacket. The durable ripstop polyester shell has a Deluge® DWR (durable water repellent) finish and houses 200-g Quallofil® insulation that’s favored for its lightweight compressibility and ability to maintain warmth in all conditions. Construction and detailing are wholly bent on providing comfort and defying the elements: the polyester nylon lining glides smoothly over layers; 2-layer elbow and pocket panels prevent wet-through and add abrasion-resistance; the head-hugging elasticized hood is super soft; the zipper has a full-length wind flap and a zipper garage to eliminate chin chafe; elasticized cuffs secure the fit and seal out cold. With cozy patched handwarmer pockets and a hand-me-down ID label inside. Relaxed fit for easy layering.
Mom's Thoughts: Featuring double the insulation of the Reversible Puff-Ball Jacket, this is my pick for those with babies exposed to really cold weather. It only weighs about 5 oz. more than the Puff-Ball and is still just as lofty and packable. The ultimate test for me? I can get this jacket on my baby and still easily fit the car seat straps around her.
